Cushman & Wakefield has arranged a 102,320-square-foot lease at 1105 West Peachtree in Atlanta’s Midtown submarket for Smith, Gambrell, & Russell, a 125-year-old Atlanta-based law firm with locations throughout the world. Shea Meddin, Andrew Ghertner, Carla Williams and John Izard of Cushman & Wakefield represented the tenant in the lease negotiations for one of the largest office leases signed in Midtown in 2018. Chris Ahrenkiel and Steve Baile of Selig self-represented the developer.

“Smith, Gambrell, & Russell has been in its current office space since we relocated the firm to Promenade in 1991. When they hired us again and decided to potentially relocate, we knew it had to be somewhere special,” Ghertner said.

“Selig’s new trophy project will allow Smith, Gambrell, & Russell to design its brand-new office space for the future in a prime Midtown location with great amenities which will help the firm continue to grow and attract and retain top talent. It was an honor to work with two of Atlanta’s most prominent firms, both of which have been in business for more than 100 years,” Meddin said.

Smith, Gambrell, & Russell will occupy four floors, nine through 12, and the ninth floor will include a one-acre Sky Plaza with green space as part of the Marriott Autograph Collection hotel, featuring a rooftop bar, restaurant, pool and more.

Spanning a city block, the nearly 3.6-acre site will feature a 660,000-square-foot office tower; a 178-key full-service Marriott Autograph Collection hotel; and 64 luxury residential units. Selig has developed roughly $1.5 billion in Midtown over the last decade, including 1065 and 1075 Peachtree, PWC’s southeast regional headquarters, and the Loews Atlanta Hotel.

Cushman & Wakefield’s Equity Debt & Structured Finance team has also been retained to capitalize the property. Construction is slated to begin in early January 2019.
